1. The University Council Meeting for Quarter 4, 2024
At the recent Quarter 4/2024 University Council meeting, several significant topics were reported, discussed, agreed upon, and approved, including the enrollment strategy for 2025, the initiative to establish a Technical Physics program at the undergraduate level, and the policy to attract new PhD faculty members in key roles for 2025.
Additionally, the University Council also provided input and approved various other matters, such as the plan for Quy Nhon University’s autonomy and the proposal for restructuring and adjusting the functions and responsibilities of the departments within the Faculty.
2. Appointment of Vice Rector and Conference of Faculty and Staff Representatives
On November 9th, Quy Nhon University held a solemn ceremony to announce and present the resolution appointing Dr. Ha Thanh Hai, Head of the Organization and Human Resources Department, as the Vice Rector of Quy Nhon University, with a term of five years.
To summarize and evaluate the work of the 2023-2024 academic year and to implement tasks for the new academic year, the University organized the "2024-2025 Conference of Faculty and Staff Representatives," attended by 150 delegates from various units across the University. The conference successfully reached a consensus among all participants regarding the objectives for the 2024-2025 academic year. The entire university community is committed to striving for excellence in fulfilling its responsibilities, further promoting and affirming the standing of the QNU brand.
3. External Evaluation of Academic Programs According to AUN-QA 4.0 Standards
From October 22 to 24, 2024, Quy Nhon University, in collaboration with the ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), conducted an external evaluation for the 411th time of two undergraduate programs: Economics and Business Administration, according to AUN-QA 4.0 Standards.
The AUN-QA expert panel reviewed documentation, evidence, and conducted site visits within the University, interviewing administrative staff, support personnel, faculty members, students, alumni, and relevant employers related to the two programs. On December 17, the AUN-QA provided an official feedback to the University regarding the evaluation results for both programs. The evaluation results indicated that the undergraduate programs in Economics and Business Administration met the AUN-QA 4.0 standards.
4. Training on Self-Evaluation and Development of Academic Programs and the Conference on Education for the 2024-2025 Academic Year
In December 2024, to enhance the quality of education and support external evaluation efforts as well as the development of academic programs, the University organized several conferences and workshops: Training on Self-Evaluation of Academic Programs according to the Ministry of Education and Training Standards; Training on Developing Academic Programs with a Focus on Learning Outcomes; and the Conference on Undergraduate Education for the 2024-2025 academic year.
These conferences and workshops underscored the crucial role and urgency of self-evaluation and external evaluation of academic programs. They also aimed to highlight solutions for improving program quality, thereby meeting societal demands and market needs.
5. Closing Ceremony of the 'Nurturing Friendship' Program and Celebration of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic
On November 28, QNU held a closing ceremony for the “Nurturing Friendship” program for Laotian students and celebrated the 49th anniversary of the National Day of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (December 2, 1975 - December 2, 2024).
During the event, representatives of the University leadership awarded the “Progressive Partnership” prize to two pairs of Vietnamese-Laotian student buddies who excelled academically in the 2023-2024 school year. The ceremony also reviewed the “Mentorship” activities and presented gifts to Laotian students in honor of their National Day. The closing ceremony affirmed the strong bonds of friendship between Vietnam and Laos and the University’s commitment to supporting not only academic training but also enhancing the cultural and spiritual life of Laotian students studying at the University.
6. QNU and Ashikaga University (Japan) Sign Cooperation Agreement to Enhance Academic and Cultural Exchanges
On the afternoon of November 11, in Ashikaga City (Tochigi Prefecture, Japan), a working delegation from Quy Nhon City, led by Comrade Nguyen Van Dung, Member of the Provincial Standing Committee and Secretary of the Quy Nhon City Party Committee, visited to work and sign a memorandum of cooperation between the People’s Committee of Quy Nhon City and the Ashikaga City government.
Participating in this mission, Dr. Dinh Anh Tuan, Vice Rector of Quy Nhon University, signed a partnership agreement to enhance academic and cultural exchanges with Ashikaga University. The agreement aims to expand learning opportunities and facilitate student exchanges between the two countries to explore language and traditional culture. Additionally, it contributes to strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan in the future.
7. QNU Signs Cooperation Agreement with DiHotel Solutions Joint Stock Company
On November 27, QNU signed a sponsorship cooperation agreement with DiHotel Solutions Joint Stock Company in the areas of career guidance, training, and recruitment. This collaboration aims to leverage the potential and strengths in infrastructure, human resources, and expertise to support the comprehensive and sustainable development of both organizations.
As part of the agreement, DiHotel will provide a five-star hotel management software package to the University for six years, conduct free training courses for staff and faculty to integrate the software into the curriculum, with a total software value over the six years amounting to 2 billion VND.
8. Seminar on Women's Advancement and Gender Equality
On the morning of December 15, the Quy Nhon University Trade Union organized a seminar on the theme of enhancing the role of union members and female employees in scientific research and technology transfer.
The seminar not only celebrated the valuable contributions of women in scientific research and technology transfer but also provided an opportunity to listen to and learn from exemplary role models. This event allowed female union members of the University to reflect on their roles and set directions, as well as to develop plans for their future professional journeys
9. Conference to Review the Student Emulation Movement and Honor Outstanding Students for the 2023-2024 Academic Year
On December 26, the University held a conference to review the student emulation movement and honor outstanding students for the 2023-2024 academic year. This event recognized exemplary classes and individual students who excelled in their studies, personal development, and participation in competitive activities.
Accordingly, the University awarded prizes to 16 outstanding student classes, 51 advanced student classes, 52 exemplary class leaders, and 50 students who achieved the title of Outstanding Student for the 2023-2024 academic year. In addition, the University also honored groups and individuals who participated in and achieved notable results in various competitions, including: the 26th National Physics Olympiad for Students; the 33rd National Informatics Olympiad; the ICPC Asia Hanoi 2024 International Programming Contest; the National Chinese Speech Competition in Da Nang 2024; and The Finals of the 26th Euréka Student Research Competition, 2024
10. Welcome Day for the 47th Cohort freshmen
From October 5 to 6, the Youth Union of Quy Nhon University, in collaboration with the Student Union, organized the “47th Cohort Freshman Welcome Festival,” featuring a variety of vibrant activities to warmly welcome over 4,700 new students.
In addition to notable events such as the Student Music Night and the Marketplace, the festival showcased the highly engaging “47th Cohort Freshman Dance,” which was well-organized and attracted a large number of faculty and students who came to cheer. To conclude the series of festival activities, the organizers held the “47th Cohort Freshman Gala” to summarize the event, award prizes to various booths and performances, and conduct the final round of the “47th Cohort Freshman Beauty Contest.
