1. Quy Nhon University enters a new phase of development with the University Council for the 2025 - 2030 term
On July 23, leaders of the Ministry of Education and Training announced and presented the decision recognizing the University Council and its Chair of Quy Nhon University for the 2025 - 2030 term. The 2025 - 2030 University Council is committed to fulfilling its roles in governance, strategic planning, and oversight, contributing to the University’s sustainable development.
2. Ceremony to announce the decision recognizing the Rector of Quy Nhon University for the 2025 - 2030 term
On September 30, Quy Nhon University solemnly held the Ceremony to Announce and Present the Decision recognizing the Rector for the 2025 - 2030 term. At the ceremony, the representative of the Ministry of Education and Training presented the Decision to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Tung, expressing the hope that the new Rector, together with the University’s leadership, will continue to leverage the institution’s strengths and steadily affirm its reputation, training quality, and standing within the higher education system.
In his acceptance remarks, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Tung acknowledged the directives from the Ministry and pledged to remain dedicated and wholehearted in his service, continually striving for the robust and sustainable development of Quy Nhon University.
3. The University Council unanimously adopted and promulgated the Strategic Development Plan for 2025 - 2030 with a vision to 2045
On September 26, QNU’s University Council convened its third meeting and approved several key items. The Council unanimously adopted and promulgated the University’s Strategic Development Plan for 2025 - 2030 with a vision to 2045; the core plans and priorities for the 2025 - 2026 academic year; and the policy to reappoint personnel to the position of Vice Rector.
In addition, the Council discussed the 2025 - 2026 annual oversight plan, the coordination regulations among the Party Committee, the University Council, and the Rector, and passed a number of other matters within its remit. The session reflected strong consensus in governance, helping to advance Quy Nhon University’s sustainable development in this new phase.
4. Stakeholder consultation conference on Quy Nhon University’s Strategic Development Plan for 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2045
Quy Nhon University is steadily affirming its role as the region’s knowledge hub. Beyond its core mission of education and training, the University aspires to lead in scientific research, innovation, and policy development.
To realize this vision, the University convened a stakeholder consultation conference on the Strategic Development Plan for 2025–2030, with a vision to 2045. Delegates highly valued the draft Plan and offered practical, constructive feedback to refine it.
All comments were acknowledged by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Tung, the Rector, who tasked the drafting committee with incorporating revisions. The conference served not only as a strategic step but also as proof of the University’s strong linkage with the community, businesses, and local government.
5. QNU expands strategic partnerships in green energy, AI, and semiconductors
Quy Nhon University is strengthening international cooperation across multiple domains, particularly in frontier technologies. On August 21, QNU signed a cooperation agreement with TORmem Inc. (USA) - a Silicon Valley technology firm - to establish Vietnam’s first semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory.
TORmem will support advanced training, technology transfer, and the development of memory-centric cloud computing infrastructure. On September 16, QNU proceeded to sign a binding framework cooperation agreement with GEO Group (Federal Republic of Germany) and O-DOOR Vietnam Co., Ltd. The agreement marks a major step toward establishing a USD 50 million Center for Training and Human Resource Development in Renewable Energy in Gia Lai. QNU will serve as the lead training partner, focusing on wind power, solar power, and green hydrogen, while fostering innovation through applications of AI, IoT, and Big Data.
Together, these two strategic agreements affirm QNU’s pioneering role in developing a high-quality talent pipeline that underpins Vietnam’s green economy and digital transformation.
6. Quy Nhon University aims to cultivate elite talent in theoretical physics
On the sidelines of the 3rd International Workshop on Nano Life Sciences: Nanobiotechnology, Biophysics, and Computational Science, Quy Nhon University held a working session with Professor Curtis Callan, a theoretical physicist from Princeton University (USA).
The meeting was facilitated by Professor Tran Thanh Van, President of Rencontres du Vietnam and the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Doan Duc Tung outlined the University’s roadmap for developing theoretical physics, with the aspiration to cultivate elite human resources for fundamental research. Professor Callan highly appreciated QNU’s potential and expressed a desire to accompany the University in advancing theoretical physics and astrophysics.
7. QNU affirms its reputation and training capacity in the 2025 - 2026 academic year
Quy Nhon University continues to affirm its reputation and multi-disciplinary training capacity with a number of standout results. In the 2025 - 2026 academic year, the University enrolled 5,078 freshmen of Cohort 48 across 52 undergraduate programs.
In August 2025, the University also completed matriculation for 420 successful master’s candidates in the first intake - nearly double the figure from the same period last year. This clearly demonstrates the growing appeal of QNU and the trust learners place in its education quality. Alongside admissions, the University recorded strong outcomes in training.
In Q3 2025, more than 2,000 new bachelors and engineers from 12 majors officially graduated, together with 173 master’s graduates, bringing the total number of master’s degrees awarded in the first eight months to 352. These impressive figures further consolidate Quy Nhon University’s robust standing within Vietnam’s higher education landscape.
8. Opening Ceremony of the 2025 - 2026 academic year
On September 5, 2025, Quy Nhon University joined the nation in welcoming the 2025 - 2026 academic year in a special atmosphere, with an opening ceremony organized simultaneously nationwide by the Ministry of Education and Training to mark the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of National Education, now the Ministry of Education and Training.
This is also a pivotal year that ushers in a period of bold transformation under the spirit of “Discipline - Creativity - Breakthrough - Development.”
With renewed momentum, Quy Nhon University reaffirms a comprehensive development orientation: accelerating digital transformation; elevating the quality of education and training, scientific research, and international cooperation; and committing to a humane, creative academic environment that meets high-quality human resource needs for the region and the country.
9. In coordination with the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training, Quy Nhon University organized a training and upskilling course on the 2018 STEM Education Curriculum for 1,600 teachers across all levels
As part of efforts to enhance general education quality in line with reform orientation, from August 12 to 20, 2025, Quy Nhon University, in collaboration with the Gia Lai Department of Education and Training, organized STEM education training under the 2018 General Education Curriculum for more than 1,600 primary, lower-secondary, and upper-secondary teachers across the province.
The course combined in-person and online delivery, using a curriculum compiled by Quy Nhon University and delivered directly by QNU faculty, with the aim of strengthening teachers’ competencies in designing, implementing, and assessing STEM activities in school subjects.
This is a flagship activity within Gia Lai’s 2025 - 2030 STEM Education Development Scheme, targeting 100% student access to STEM education by 2030.
10. External assessment of 10 full-time undergraduate programs
From September 5 to 10, 2025, Quy Nhon University, in collaboration with the Center for Education Quality Accreditation - Vinh University, conducted the official external review of 10 undergraduate programs: Biology Education, History Education, Geography Education, Physics Education, Informatics Education, Political Education, Law, Applied Mathematics, Natural Resources and Environment Management, and Food Technology.
This is the largest accreditation cycle in QNU’s history. In the 2025 - 2026 academic year, the University will continue self-assessment for 9 programs under the Ministry of Education and Training’s standards and 3 programs under AUN QA standards, reaffirming its commitment to continuous improvement, quality enhancement, and international integration in higher education.
11. Vibrant colors at QNU’s Freshers’ Day
September brought a burst of color and memorable moments to QNU’s campus with Cohort 48’s New Student Festival. The festival buzzed with energy through a vibrant lineup: the Color Me Run, enterprise and student club booths, cross-cultural exchanges, and the gala night “Proud to be QNU Students.” The lively, youthful atmosphere spread across campus, drawing large participation and setting an inspiring tone for Cohort 48’s university journey.
More than a welcome to the new academic year, the event also kicked off major activities of the Youth Union and Student Association, fostering connection, inspiration, and passion among incoming students.
