Quy Nhon University (QNU) is steadily establishing its position in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure and semiconductor workforce training. Guided by a clear development vision—and supported by the Gia Lai provincial government along with strategic collaboration from TORmem Inc., a technology leader in memory disaggregation—QNU is building a solid foundation for even greater advancements in the years to come.
Turning Aspiration into Reality
With the support and close collaboration of Mr. Thao An Nguyen—technology expert, founder of TORmem Inc., and a proud native of Quy Nhon—Quy Nhon University (QNU) is preparing to launch Vietnam’s first AI laboratory featuring true memory disaggregation and ultra-fast 400G Ethernet. This pioneering facility will serve as a crucial foundation for next-generation AI data centers, giving students hands-on access to real-world AI workloads, distributed computing, and high throughput memory systems.
In parallel with its AI initiatives, QNU is advancing programs to develop a skilled workforce in semiconductor engineering, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity—aligned with the Gia Lai provincial development plan. The university is investing in the establishment of a chip packaging and testing laboratory, while finalizing plans for state of the art equipment to support practical training in ASIC design and verification. An ASIC design training program, along with specialized courses in chip packaging and testing, has already been developed and is now in the final stages of review and approval.
Local government consensus and support have laid a solid foundation, enabling QNU to translate plans into tangible infrastructure that serves both teaching and research needs.
Strategic collaboration advancing high-tech education in Vietnam
The partnership between Quy Nhon University and TORmem Inc., together with a deep industry network, is opening early access for students to cutting edge technologies. This includes external memory disaggregation using TORmem appliances with capacities from 4TB to 48TB, high performance AI infrastructure powered by GPUs from AMD and NVIDIA, and AI servers built on RTX 4090—offering strong performance at optimized cost for many workloads, though purpose built accelerators like H100/H200 deliver superior throughput and efficiency for large scale training and inference. Students also gain exposure to high speed 100G/400G Ethernet networking, data center orchestration solutions, and hands on participation in real world proof of concept deployments across AI, bioinformatics, and data center scaling.
