(DLR) – On September 16, at the “Energizing The Future Conference” held at the Fleur De Lys Hotel in Quy Nhon, Quy Nhon University signed a binding framework cooperation agreement with GEO Group (Federal Republic of Germany) and O-DOOR Vietnam Co., Ltd. The agreement marks a major step toward establishing a USD 50 million Center for Training and Human Resource Development in Renewable Energy in Gia Lai.
Earlier, in June 2025, a major milestone for Vietnam’s clean energy development was marked when GEO Group (Federal Republic of Germany) and O-DOOR Vietnam Co., Ltd. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee and domestic partners. Under the MoU, GEO committed USD 50 million (over VND 1.3 trillion) to establish a Renewable Energy Human Resource Training and Development Center. This is an international-scale project focusing on key areas including wind power, solar power, and green hydrogen, promising tangible value for the green economy and Vietnam’s Net Zero 2050 goal.

The “Energizing The Future Conference” took place on the afternoon of September 16 at the Fleur De Lys Hotel Quy Nhon.
According to the cooperation framework, O-DOOR Vietnam participates as a joint partner, taking on multiple implementation components in Vietnam. Quy Nhon University serves as the lead training and education partner, directly contributing to the design, delivery, and operation of high-quality workforce development programs for the renewable energy sector.
More specifically, the agreement aims to roll out internationally standardized training programs, including hands-on practice in operating wind turbines (onshore/offshore), international certification pathways, solar PV system operations, and green hydrogen technologies - so that local and national workforces meet the requirements of large-scale energy projects in Vietnam and abroad; it also promotes innovation through the application of AI, IoT, and Big Data to manage and optimize operations in renewable energy projects.

Mr. Pham Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee, delivered remarks at the workshop.
Establishing the center in Gia Lai will also play a key role in attracting additional FDI from international energy corporations interested in Vietnam; fostering research collaboration and technology transfer in energy management, digital O&M, and occupational safety; and, notably, shaping a robust Enterprise - University - Government linkage model. At present, QNU has 30 qualified PhDs ready to participate in training to become experts, supporting the Center’s development.
At the workshop, delegates and stakeholders also heard presentations from GEO Group and executives of Indel Petro Vietnam to deepen understanding of the scale and significance of renewable energy in the digital era - where enterprises, institutions, and government agencies alike face common challenges that demand innovation and development.
