Quy Nhon University’s First Quarter, 2023 News Review has the following top news and major events:
1. QNU’s University Council meeting in Quarter 1, 2023
The official approval of QNU’s employment position scheme is one of the important items of QNU’s University Council’s meeting in the first quarter, 2023. In addition, the meeting also approved the resolutions on the renovation, repair and upgrading of Dormitory C4, the project on university autonomy in terms of organizational structure, personnel and finance of QNU in the period of 2023-2025 with an orientation towards 2030.
2. QNU’s Trade Union: 04 individuals awarded certificates of merit by Vietnam Education Union
QNU’s Trade Union successfully organized the 16th University Trade Union Congress, with an executive committee for the term 2023-2028 consisting of 13 members. On this occasion, the representative of the Vietnam Education Union awarded certificates of merit to 04 trade union members who had recorded outstanding achievements in trade union activities for the 2018-2023 term.
3. Completing the Accreditation of educational institutions, Phase 2
Accreditation of educational institutions is one of the activities that help QNU to constantly improve its training quality and develop sustainably. For 06 days of February (4 to 9 February), QNU cooperated with the Center for Education Accreditation - the University of Danang in conducting an official survey to assess the quality of educational institutions, Phase 2.
Also in February 2023, the University was granted a quality accreditation certificate for 02 master’s programs in Solid State Physics and Accounting. This is the basis for the University to offer master's programs in these two areas of study.
4. QNU ranks 18th out of 100 universities in Vietnam
Over the past years, QNU has implemented many improvement plans, promoting its strengths to ensure quality, so that its brand reputation is substantially enhanced. According to the rankings of universities in 2023 of Vietnam's University Rankings, QNU ranks 18th out of 100 universities in Vietnam.
5. QNU’s Admissions Scheme 2023
In preparation for its admissions work for the 2023-2024 academic year, in the first quarter, QNU promulgated the 2023-2024 University Admissions Scheme, under which the University will enrol 5,879 full-time undergraduate students in 48 areas of study with 04 modes admissions:
1. Enrolling candidates based on 2023 high-school graduation examination scores
2. Enrolling candidates based on 2-3 semester high-school academic results
3. Enrolling candidates based on 2022 Aptitude Test scores given by the national universities and Hanoi University of Education
4. Offering direct admissions under the Admissions Regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training
6. 20 QNU students awarded scholarships by the Korean-Vietnamese Friendship Association
To show its support to QNU students, in the academic year 2022 - 2023, the Korea - Vietnam Friendship Association has annually awarded scholarships to 20 disadvavantaged but academically and morally good students. The scholarships awarded to QNU students all have their own values and meanings for each individual so that they will make greater efforts in their studies and self-improvement.
7. Cooperating with ACCA & VACPA and BII
Internationalization in education is an inevitable trend and brings a lot of benefits to learners, contributing to improving QNU's brand reputation.
In order to provide a practical educational foundation and expand career opportunities for students of Accounting and Auditing,
QNU has signed the memorandum of understanding to cooperate with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants of Great Britain (ACCA) and the Vietnam Association of Professional Accountants (VACPA) in implementing the integration, learning, testing and award of the Certificate of CertIFR and a number of other ACCA's certificates.
In March 2023, QNU also worked with the British International Institute (BII) on the cooperation in linking formal university training in the field of Information Technology and Finance - Banking under the single-degree training program of the University of Birmingham and Leeds Beckett University (UK). When pursuing international joint programs offered by QNU and these British universities, students will be provided with programs by intenational standards and awarded bachelor's degrees by the British universities. It is expected that QNU and BII will sign the memorandum of understanding in April 2023 and start to enrol candidates in the 2024-2025 academic year.
8. Corporate and international cooperation: Cooperating with Deo Ca Group; Welcoming the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium; Cooperating with the State of Nebraska, University of Nebraska Ohama (USA); Cooperating with PNE; Welcoming the high-level delegation of South Laos; Working with Hanoi University of Science and Technology
QNU has been implementing many international cooperation projects with a lot of institutions in European and Asian countries, including the IUC program. This is an extensive cooperation program between QNU and some top universities of the Kingdom of Belgium to improve its capacity, contributing to the sustainable development of the locality. In March 2023, Mr. Karl Van den Bossche - Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Vietnam and a high-level delegation of the Association of the Kingdom of Belgium - Luxembought in Vietnam and Belgian enterprises paid a working visit to QNU. Mr. Karl Van den Bossche expressed the hope that the cooperation between QNU and Belgian universities would continue to be promoted in the near future.
Also in March, QNU welcomed a high-level delegation of 4 southern provinces of Laos including Attapu, Champasak, Salavan, and Sekong to the University. In recent years, the Binh Dinh Province People's Committee has granted scholarships to students from the southern provinces of Laos. Standing by the local authorities, QNU has paid special attention to the quality assurance in Lao Student training.
With the mission of providing high-quality human resources, QNU attaches great importance to connecting and strengthening cooperation with Binh Dinh-based domestic and foreign enterprises. In the first quarter of 2023, the University worked with Deoca Group to provide orientations to specifically change the content of the memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties. In the time to come, QNU and Deoca Group will work out detailed plans to carry out the training, research and student enrolment. In addition, the University also worked with the State of Nebraska, the University of Nebrsaka Ohama (USA) and cooperated in administering academic training programs in renewable energy with PNE Corporation.
In the strategic orientation to 2030, QNU will be a multidisciplinary, application-oriented higher education institution with high reputation, meeting the quality standards of Southeast Asia. With that goal, in March, 2023, the University cooperated with Hanoi University of Science and Technology in some areas such as creating in-depth research groups, implementing university autonomy, and building a road map for transformation, and upgrading the model from university to multidisciplinary university.
