DLR - From August 4 to 8, 2025, Quy Nhon University hosted and co-organized the 7th National Conference on Probability and Statistics: Research, Applications, and Teaching. This major scientific event, held every five years since 2001 and continuing the academic tradition that began in 1983, serves to strengthen collaboration among training and research institutions in the field of Probability and Statistics. The conference provided an academic forum for researchers, lecturers, and students to share research findings, practical applications, and teaching experiences. In doing so, it contributed to enhancing the quality of education and research in this discipline, while affirming Quy Nhon University’s role and position within Vietnam’s mathematics training and research network.
The conference was jointly organized by the Institute of Mathematics – Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, the University of Science – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, and Quy Nhon University. The event attracted a large number of scientists, lecturers, doctoral candidates, graduate students, and undergraduates from universities, research institutes, and scientific organizations across the country. Notably, the conference featured two plenary invited lectures delivered by distinguished experts in Probability and Statistics from France and Japan.

Dr. Ha Thanh Hai – Vice Rector of Quy Nhon University – presented the nearly 50-year journey of the University’s establishment and development at the conference
At the opening session, Dr. Ha Thanh Hai – Vice Rector of the University – warmly welcomed delegates and scholars from Vietnam and abroad to this important event hosted by Quy Nhon University. In his remarks, Dr. Hai provided an overview of the University’s training scale and highlighted its nearly 50-year journey of establishment and development, reaffirming the University’s position within Vietnam’s higher education system.
The Vice Rector noted that Quy Nhon University is actively working alongside the local community in implementing Resolution 57, with the goal of achieving comprehensive development in science and technology. The University places special emphasis on linking research with practical applications, bringing mathematics and statistics into service for various aspects of social life. Under its development strategy toward 2030, the University will focus on natural sciences and fundamental sciences, in which Mathematics and Statistics are identified as a crucial foundation for the advancement of science, technology, and modern industry.
Dr. Ha Thanh Hai also emphasized that throughout the conference, the University would ensure the best possible facilities to support academic activities. He expressed his hope that the conference would generate practical values in both theory and practice, while reaffirming the role of the mathematics community in advancing the nation’s scientific and educational development.
Advanced Statistics Summer School – Kicking Off the Series of Academic Activities
Opening the Conference was the Advanced Statistics Summer School, held on August 4, 2025, under the theme ‘Bayesian Statistics and Applications.’ This provided a valuable opportunity for students, lecturers, and researchers to gain in-depth and updated knowledge of modern Bayesian statistical methods, such as posterior distribution approximation and Sequential Monte Carlo (SMC). The Summer School was not only academic in nature but also fostered an active learning environment that encouraged research-oriented thinking and practical application.

Through the program, participants were introduced to key theoretical foundations as well as new approaches in practice and application, thereby enhancing their research and teaching capacity in related fields. The Summer School thus served as both an academic platform and a dynamic environment for nurturing research and applied thinking.
Conference Sessions – A Comprehensive and In-Depth Academic Forum
From August 5 to 8, 2025, the Conference entered its official sessions with a series of high-quality scientific presentations delivered by leading experts. The plenary sessions featured invited talks from renowned scholars, highlighting new research trends, notable applications, and development directions in the field of Probability and Statistics both in Vietnam and internationally.

In addition, presentations were organized within four specialized subcommittees: Stochastic Analysis and Applications; Mathematical Statistics and Applications; Statistics in Economics, Finance, Biomedicine, and Teaching; and Probability Theory and Applications.
In addition to the parallel subcommittee sessions, the Conference also featured plenary sessions with invited lectures from distinguished scholars, showcasing new research trends, notable applications, and development directions in the field of Probability and Statistics both nationally and internationally.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Manh Cuong – Vice Rector of the University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Co-Chair of the Conference Organizing Committee – this is a long-standing and prestigious scientific forum, bringing together researchers, lecturers, and those interested in both the theory and applications of probability and statistics across various fields. This year’s Conference gathered nearly 250 participants from research institutes, universities, and organizations across the country, creating a vibrant and in-depth academic exchange.
