Experts introduced the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, which assess universities' contributions to sustainable development.
Through this initiative, QNU aims to integrate sustainable development criteria across all training, research, and governance activities, working toward the goal of comprehensive quality enhancement and affirming the university's position within the ASEAN higher education network.
As moderator of the seminar, Ms. Mei Mei Lim, Regional President for Asia-Pacific at Times Higher Education (THE), introduced the THE Impact Rankings framework—a tool for assessing how effectively higher education institutions implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This framework serves as a crucial foundation enabling universities to measure their contributions, improve operational effectiveness, and communicate their impact with clarity and transparency. The rankings have demonstrated the increasingly vital role of ASEAN universities in advancing sustainable development. In the context of globalization and climate change, higher education institutions function not only as centers for teaching and research but also as pioneering forces in implementing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

To realize the objective of enhancing its position in regional university rankings, QNU has implemented numerous initiatives, including participating in the International Workshop "Internal Quality Assurance Implementation – For the Sustained Future of ASEAN Higher Education" (August 18, 2025) and organizing a specialized conference on "University Ranking Strategies" (July 19, 2025) featuring a presentation by Dr. Le Van Ut on sustainable research governance.
Notably, the university has issued its Strategic Development Plan for 2025–2030, with a vision extending to 2045, targeting the following goals :
• Strive to achieve Southeast Asian quality standards by 2030
• Rank among the top 100 Southeast Asian universities in the QS Asia Rankings
