From March 23 to May 11, 2025, Quy Nhon University, in coordination with other universities and colleges across Binh Dinh Province, is organizing a local field experience program for Lao international students currently studying at QNU. This activity is part of the “Nurturing Friendship” program, designed to give Lao students the opportunity to explore the culture, history, and advancements in science and technology in Binh Dinh. The initiative also aims to strengthen the special bond of friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.

As part of the field trip, the student group visited Tay Son District – a land closely associated with the Vietnamese national hero Quang Trung – Nguyen Hue. At Duong Long Towers, a remarkable Cham tower complex known for its architectural and historical value, the Lao students explored the cultural legacy of Champa through intricate carvings and unique construction materials. This visit offered them a direct encounter with the distinctive cultural heritage of Binh Dinh, helping to deepen their understanding and foster cultural connections between the peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

A highlight of the journey was a visit to the Quang Trung Museum, which preserves the heroic legacy of the Tay Son peasant uprising. Here, the Lao students learned about the movement, its significant victories, and key historical milestones connected to the land of Binh Dinh. Experiential activities such as watching a traditional war drum performance, visiting the ancient well, the traditional wooden house, and a 300-year-old tamarind tree offered the students a vivid glimpse into the historical setting and daily life during the Tay Son era. This visit provided Lao students with a valuable opportunity to experience and deepen their understanding of Vietnamese and Binh Dinh's national history and culture.

The trip offered Lao students a meaningful opportunity to connect with local cultural values through historical landmarks and the distinctive daily life of the people in the region. Representatives from Tay Son District’s leadership also took time to meet with the group, sharing insights into the district’s socio-economic development. This gave the students a more vivid and practical perspective on the area where they are currently studying.
Many Lao students expressed their admiration and pride in learning about Vietnam’s heroic historical traditions. They also shared their excitement at being able to further engage and build friendships with peers and teachers during the trip. In fulfilling its international mission, Quy Nhon University remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster connection and integration for international students—ensuring they have enriching, memorable experiences throughout their time in Binh Dinh.

The experiential program for Lao students will continue with visits to other notable destinations, including Nuoc Man Port, Lang Song Church, and the Cham tower complex in Tuy Phuoc District. Each stop along the journey not only provides valuable knowledge but also serves as a bridge of friendship—further nurturing the strong, time-honored bond between the two brotherly nations and peoples.
