ICT - Within the framework of the Amazing Binh Dinh Fest 2024, on March 30, 2024, Quy Nhon University (QNU) was honored to welcome Mr. Olivier Brochet, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Vietnam to the University.
Addressing the French delegation, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My - Rector of QNU, expressed his joy at welcoming the French Ambassador and his delegation to QNU, and summarized some of the University's activities that contributed to spreading the French language, maintaining a close connection with the Francophone community (AUF) in recent times. He also briefly introduced the future development orientation of Quy Nhon City, and talked about some works with French imprints in Binh Dinh province and some information about QNU’s history of cooperation with AUF.

At the meeting, impressed by the video introducing the image of QNU, Mr. Olivier Brochet expressed his desire to cooperate in science and training with the University. He proposed a number of areas of cooperation such as promoting French teaching activities at QNU, high-tech training, information technology and research in oceanography and biology, environment and sustainable agriculture, the priority and key areas in which France was cooperating with Vietnam.
Ambassador Olivier Brochet especially emphasized the role of the ICISE Center as a bridge between QNU and French partners, saying that the French delegation’s visit would will pave the way for the visit of Mr. Arnaud Pannier, Attaché for Educational Cooperation in the near future to discuss specific cooperation programs.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Tien Trung, Head of the Office of Research Affairs & International Relations introduced the STEM Project that was being implemented in Binh Dinh province, saying that QNU wished to invite AUF experts to embark on a number of QNU’s training programs, especially designing products, tools and building bilingual Vietnamese - French learning materials. He also emphasized the role of the ICISE center in coordinating with relevant parties, saying that QNU would continue to discuss the taking on of Francophone experts in the fields of biology, foreign languages, information technology, artificial intelligence, etc. as well as academic exchange with French partners through support from the French Embassy.
At the end of the meeting, the French Ambassador and QNU leaders agreed to cooperate bilaterally in many potential fields. Ambassador Olivier Brochet went on a tour of QNU’s Library and attended a cultural event of the Faculty of Social Sciences & Humanities held on the University's campus.

Accompanying the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Vietnam was Dr. Tran Thanh Son, Deputy Director of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science & Education (ICISE) and representative of the Binh Dinh Department of Foreign Affairs.
The French Embassy delegation was received by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My - Rector, Dr. Dinh Anh Tuan - Vice Rector; leaders of the Office of Research Affairs & International Relations, the Administration Office, the Undergraduate Training Office, the Post-graduate Office, the Center for Information Technology & Communications and some lecturers and students studying and doing research in France.
Historical milestones in QNU - AUF relations:
On December 18, 2018, QNU officially joined AUF as an observing member; On January 18, 2019, QNU was recognized as a member of the Conference of Principals of AUF member universities in the Asia-Pacific region (CONFRASIE); On February 7, 2022, QNU received a change notice of its membership status, saying that it had become an associate member of Agence Universitaire De La Francophonie (AUF) (Francophone University Organization). In October 2023, QNU’s Rector attended the 14th General Assembly of the Conference of Rectors of AUF Member Units in the Region (CONFRASIE); In March 2024, QNU was approved by the Ministry of Education and Training for the Project to develop the AUF-funded E-learning training model at QNU.
