ICT - On the occasion of the event “Meeting with Binh Dinh - Japan 2023”, towards the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan held in Binh Dinh province, on the morning of July 9, the delegation of the Sakai City-based Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association (Japan) paid a working visit to Quy Nhon University (QNU).

Welcoming the delegation, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Doan Duc Tung - Vice Retor of QNU gave a brief overview of QNU’s training scale, human resources, training, research and international cooperation. He highly appreciated the interest of the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Sakai City shown in QNU and expressed the hope that the two sides would have more discussions about the relationship between QNU and Binh Dinh province with the Sakai City-based Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association.
During the last few years, the Sakai City-based Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association has had a cooperative relationship with Binh Dinh province in general and QNU in particular. The Association has cooperated with the University in organizing many events aimed at introducing Japanese language and culture to QNU’s students of Japanese studies and lovers of Japanese culture. On this basis Mr. Kato Hirosuke - Chairman of the Sakai City-based Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association, head of the delegation, expressed the hope that more discussions would be held by the two sides to foster the cooperative relationship, contributing to the promotion of the images and cultures of Vietnam and Japan.

At the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on introducing Naginata to QNU students. Mr. Kato Hirosuke said that Naginata was a martial art associated with Japanese history, and affirmed that through this martial art, young people and Binh Dinh residents would know more about the culture and traditions of Japan and its people. He also recommended Mr. Kitagawa Toru as a Japanese expert in Naginata as well as a Japanese language teaching assistant at QNU since March 2025.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue to hold more in-depth discussions on training and cultural exchange in the future.
