INTRODUCTION OF ECONOMIC MATHEMATICS DIVISION
1. History
Economic Mathematics Division is a specialized unit under the Department of Economics and Accounting, established in 2009. Currently, the Division has 7 lecturers, including 1 Ph.D. trained in France, 2 Ph.D. trained at reputable universities in Vietnam, 2 Ph.D. students being trained in the Czech Republic and the Federal Republic of Germany, 1 domestic research student, and 1 Master's degree holder.
2. Teaching Tasks
The main task of the Economic Mathematics Devision is to teach subjects related to mathematics, quantitative methods, and statistics to ensure that students have a basic understanding of these domains, helping students effectively study specialized subjects and equip them with the ability to conduct independent or group scientific research. So far, the Devision has compiled exercises in quantitative economics with the assistance of Eviews 6 software, textbook on advanced mathematics for economics, textbook on economic mathematics, and textbook on the principles of economic statistics. Some subjects that were previously mostly taught theoretically due to the lack of teaching support facilities have now been adjusted in content and teaching methods to bring about higher effectiveness for learners, thanks to the close attention of the university leadership in equipping machinery, equipment for teaching and practical activities. In addition, the lecturers engage in scientific research both domestically and internationally, support researchers and colleagues with quantitative research tools in economic and social fields, and participate in other activities implemented by Department of Economics and Accounting and Quy Nhon University.
3. Department Lectures
Currently, Devision has 7 lecturers, including 3 Ph.D. holders and 4 Master's degree holders (among whom 3 are currently pursuing their PhD. studies).

4. Research Direction
Economic Mathematics Devision is responsible for teaching courses on Mathematics for Accounting, Auditing, Finance-Banking, Business Administration, and Economics majors, such as Economic Mathematics, Advanced Mathematics for Economics, Principles of Economic Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Economic Forecasting and Data Analysis, Quantitative Analysis in Economics, Probability Theory and Mathematical Statistics, Optimization Methods in Business, and Financial Mathematics.
5. Research Achievement
5.1. Participation in Research Projects and Scientific Papers:
The lecturers of the Devision have led and participated in numerous projects at various levels and published research papers in prestigious scientific journals both domestically and internationally, as follows:
- Research projects: 03 national-level projects, 2 ministry-level projects, 1 provincial-level project, 2 institute-level projects, and many university-level projects.
- International journals: A Journal of Mathematical Programming and Operational Research (ISI), Mathematical Methods of Operational Research (ISI), Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications (ISI), Statistics & Probability Letters (ISI), Investment Management and Financial Innovations Journal (Scopus), etc.
- Domestic journals: Acta Mathematica Vietnamica (Scopus), Journal of Science, University of Quy Nhon, Journal of Economics, Asia-Pacific Economic Journal, Journal of Economics & Development, Journal of Economics & Forecasting, Finance Journal, etc.
5.2. Awards:
- Two lecturers have received awards for their mathematical works in 2018 and 2019 from the National Key Program for Mathematical Development (2010-2020).
- One lecturer has received a commendation from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union for contributions to scientific research.
6. Development Strategy
With the current general trend, mathematics is being increasingly applied in economic research. This poses a crucial requirement for Devision to be flexible and adaptable in selecting necessary teaching content; constructing advanced curriculum content and suitable teaching methods. In the near future, the Devision aims to develop a curriculum for all remaining courses under its responsibility with an applied orientation, integrating course content with economic situations, gradually meeting the output standards for students in the Economics field, aiming for AUN (Asian University Network) quality standards. The Devision encourages its members to participate in scientific research activities both within and outside the university, providing the best conditions for members to develop their professional competence and engage in other activities of Department of Economics and Accounting and Quy Nhon University.
