INTRODUCTION OF THE DIVISION OF AUDIT

1. History

The Division of Economics and Business Administration was established in 2002 at the same time as the Department of Economics and Business Administration.

In 2005, the Division of Economics and Business Administration was divided into two Divisions: the Division of Accounting and the Division of Business Administration belonging to the Department of Economics and Business Administration.

In 2009, the Department of Economics and Business Administration was divided to establish the Department of Economics & Accounting and the Department of Finance - Banking and Business Administration. At that time, the Division of Management Accounting and Auditing was established under the Department of Economics & Accounting.

In 2020, in order to meet the increasing social demand for the majors of Accounting and Auditing and the requirement for developing the Economics sector of Quy Nhon University, the Division of Management Accounting and Auditing was restructured and renamed the Division of Auditing under the Department of Economics and Accounting.

2. Teaching Tasks

The Division of Audit is responsible for teaching courses related to auditing for the Accounting and Auditing majors in undergraduate and postgraduate programs, as well as for other disciplines such as Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Economics, etc.

The teaching program emphasizes practicality and is conducted in collaboration with leading auditing firms in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Binh Duong, etc.

3. Lecturers in the Division

There are 6 lecturers in the division, including 4 doctors and 3 masters (including 1 PhD student). We are conducting in-depth research on specialized topics. At the same time, the Division is building research groups in collaboration with other lecturers nationwide to carry out high-quality scientific research projects.

The lecturers of the Division are continuously obtaining their qualifications through studying at reputable domestic and international universities such as the Academy of Finance, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, University of Economics and Law, University of Economics - Da Nang University, Quy Nhon University, Queensland University of Technology, Australia. Some lecturers also participate in collaborative training projects with universities in Europe. Some lecturers have practical experience as auditors and accountants in independent auditing firms and other enterprises. The lecturers have obtained professional certificates such as CPA, CAT, IFRS, Chief Accountant, etc., and are members of professional associations such as VAA, VACPA, ACCA, etc., in order to keep up with the current trends in the development of the accounting and auditing profession in the market economy.

4. Research Direction

Lecturers of the Division are conducting in-depth research on specialized topics including: International Auditing Standards, Vietnamese Auditing Standards, International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Financial Statement Auditing, Internal Control, Internal Audit, Performance Audit, COSO, COBIT,...

In addition, our lecturers have strengths in quantitative research methods by using SPSS, R, AMOS, STATA, SmartPLS software... , so we will continue to develop in-depth research directions on Accounting, Auditing, and Finance. Therefore, the Division has built a research group in cooperation with other lecturers nationwide to carry out quality scientific research projects.

5. Research Achievement

Lecturers of the Division have participated in many research projects at all levels, participated in compiling many textbooks and research articles in prestigious scientific journals in Vietnam and abroad, typically:

- Research projects: 12 scientific research projects at the University level

- Textbooks: Basic Auditing, Accounting for Administrative units, Accounting principles, International Accounting, Financial Statement Auditing 1, Internal Control.

- International journals and conferences: Management Science Letters (Scopus), Journal of Science and Technology, ICOAF 2018, ICBF 2019, ...

- Domestic journals: Economics and Development, Accounting and Auditing, Finance, Industry and Trade, Financial Research - Marketing, Asian Business and Economic Research (JABES), ...

The Division focuses on improving the quality of scientific research in students while encouraging the spirit of self-study through flexible learning methods closely linked to reality. Every year, lecturers in the Division guide students to conduct scientific research projects closely related to practice and are always accepted with good quality.

6. Development Strategy

- Continue to improve the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate training programme;

- Innovate teaching methods towards application;

- Develop a system of textbooks, lectures, exercises and other learning materials;

- Strengthen scientific research and international publications.

- The Division promotes cooperation and scientific research with universities in Vietnam and around the world to continuously update the teaching programme in line with practice, exchange and learn from experiences, and promote the research spirit of students. In addition, the Division cooperates with domestic and international professional associations and organizations to train professional certificates including CPA, ACCA, CAT, CIA, CMA, CFE, CerIFFRS, Chief Accountant, ... to become one of the high-quality vocational training units in the region and Vietnam.
