ICT - On August 15, Quy Nhon University had the honor of welcoming Mr. Denis Fourmeau, the Scientific and Higher Education Cooperation Attaché from the French Embassy in Vietnam, for a visit and meeting at the university. Accompanying Mr. Denis Fourmeau were Professor Sylvain Ouillon, Dr. Edmond Dounis from the IRD representative office in Vietnam and the Philippines, and Professor Tran Thanh Van, Director of the International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE) and President of the Vietnam Meeting Association.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Tung, the Rector of the University, welcomed Mr. Denis Fourmeau and his delegation, expressing gratitude for the support from the French Embassy and the ICISE Center for the university over the past time. He also shared some general and notable information about the university's training scale, faculty, and scientific researchers. The Rector emphasized the role of the ICISE Center as a bridge between Quy Nhon University and French partners. Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Tung expressed his hope that in the near future, QNU would have more opportunities for cooperation in education and science, as well as participation in programs implemented by the French Embassy in Vietnam.

Mr. Denis Fourmeau expressed his honor in visiting and working at Quy Nhon University and mentioned that today's meeting is a continuation of the visit from the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Vietnam in March 2024. In his remarks at the meeting, Mr. Denis Fourmeau introduced the embassy's doctoral training scholarship program, appreciating QNU's strengths in the field of mathematics, as well as its strong connections with the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM), the ICISE Center, and universities in France. Mr. Denis Fourmeau hopes that the French Embassy, QNU, and relevant parties will achieve further extensive cooperation in the future.
Professor Sylvain Ouillon - Representative Office of IRD in Vietnam & the Philippines shared the information about the establishment of the first oceanographic monitoring station in Vietnam
In addition, Professor Sylvain Ouillon and Dr. Edmond Dounis from the IRD Representative Office in Vietnam and the Philippines also provided a brief introduction to the French Research Institute for Development (IRD) and shared several details regarding the establishment of the first oceanographic monitoring station in Vietnam. According to Professor Sylvain Ouillon, the oceanographic monitoring station will be located at the ICISE Center, with the aim of monitoring indicators to track climate change and biodiversity in the marine environment. Through the monitoring station, experts will guide faculty, trainees, and students in measuring indicators so that they can collect and process data to support research efforts.

During the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tien Trung, Head of the Department of Science and International Cooperation, provided information about a previous cooperation agreement between QNU, VIASM, and the ICISE Center, which includes the establishment of an international research institute for basic sciences in Quy Nhon. Associate Professor Dr. Do Ngoc My, former Rector of the University, and Professor Tran Thanh Van emphasized the deep relationship between QNU and the ICISE Center over the past 10 years, while expressing hope that both parties will continue to enhance and expand their collaborative relations in connecting with partners from France in education and scientific research.
Through the exchanged information, the Science and Higher Education Cooperation Attaché and QNU agreed to continue expanding cooperation in many potential areas. At the same time, Associate Professor Dr. Doan Duc Tung expressed the desire for Professor Tran Thanh Van and the ICISE Center to continue being a bridge between QNU and the French Embassy and its partners from France.
