In order to enhance the quality of scientific research and strengthen the connection between theory and practice in teaching, FBA recently organized a series of department-level scientific seminars with presentations by department members and researchers.
Seminar 1: On October 13, 2025, Dr. Trần Thị Thanh Diệu presented her study titled “The Impact of Digital Transformation on the Risk Appetite of Vietnamese Commercial Banks.”
The main objective of this research is to examine how digital transformation affects the level of risk appetite among Vietnamese commercial banks. Specifically, the study seeks to clarify the nature of the relationship between digital transformation and risk-taking behavior—whether it is linear or nonlinear—and to explain the underlying mechanism based on appropriate theoretical frameworks. In addition, the research analyzes the moderating role of bank size in this relationship to highlight the differences in impact across banks with varying total asset scales. Finally, it assesses the moderating effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the relationship between digital transformation and risk appetite, thereby identifying the magnitude and direction of this contextual influence.
