ICT - Within the framework of Project 2 of the IUC-QNU Program, on March 22, Quy Nhon University (QNU) cooperated with the IUC Project Coordination Board in holding a seminar on "Applying advanced materials and technical solutions to improve the performance of the drying system and biogas purification".
An overview of the seminar
Along the rural and coastal areas of Vietnam's South Central Region and Central Highlands, foods such as rice, coffee beans, and seafood are often dried in direct sunlight. This method has low investment costs, but depends heavily on temperature, wind, humidity and solar energy, making the production process unsafe and providing low efficiency. Besides, in the livestock sector, producing biogas from livestock waste is a common practice but it causes air pollution and badly affects human health.
Project 2 under the IUC - QNU Program aims to help local farmers by finding affordable alternatives, applying proposed products of science and technology to improve profitability and sustainability in livestock farming and agricultural production, thereby helping to increase the economic value of local agricultural products.
Prof. Ewald Janssens (KU Leuven University), Project 2 leader speaks at the seminar
Asso.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Minh Vuong (Faculty of Natural Sciences), Project 2 leader (QNU), gives an overview of Project 2 under IUC - QNU Program
"This is the first seminar of Project 2 under the IUC-QNU Program. In this project, we aim to use new nanomaterials to solve specific problems related to the application of green energy innovations in farming and animal husbandry by local people. After the seminar, I hope that the project members will have more useful information from the experts, so that we can adjust our research methods to better suit reality" said Prof. Ewald Janssens from KU Leuven University, Projects 2 leader.
Presenters give presentations on agricultural drying system
Attended by the experts from KU Leuven University (Belgium), local and domestic agricultural experts, doctoral, masters’ and undergraduate students and QNU students of agriculture, materials science and solid state physics, the seminar was held for the experts to share their experience, discuss initial research results on methods for drying agricultural products and applying metal oxide nanomaterials and nano composites to adsorb H2S gas in biogas and learned about the local people’ demand for agricultural drying systems and biogas purification.
Biogas Purification presenters give presentations
Highly appreciating the applicability of Project 2, Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Deputy Director of the Binh Dinh Department of Science & Technology expressed the hope that in the coming time, the projects aimed to improve local residents’ livelihood under the IUC - QNU Program in particular and QNU would continue to develop their strengths, especially in scientific research, and join local authorities in solving challenges that arose in reality.
Project 2 under the IUC-QNU Program is one of the projects aimed at improving the livelihoods and living conditions of communities in the South Central Coast and Central Highlands of Vietnam towards sustainable development, and implemented for 10 years (2022 - 2032). Currently, the project is implementing Phase 1 of the IUC - QNU program.
The seminar was attended by Prof. Ewald Janssens (KU Leuven University), Project 2 leader, Dr. Nguyen Huu Ha - Deputy Director of the Binh Dinh Department of Science & Technology, Engineer Le Quang Thuy (Center for Scientific Discovery & Innovation), Dr. Doan Duc Chanh Tin (Institute of Nano Technology, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City), leader of Nam Yang Agricultural & Service Cooperative (Dak Doa, Gia Lai), Phuoc Hung Agricultural Cooperative (Tuy Phuoc, Binh Dinh), and on the side of QNU, by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Vu Thi Ngan, Head of the IUC-QNU Program, Project 2 members, leaders of the Office of Research Affairs & International Relations, the Institute of Educational Sciences, lecturers, graduate and undergraduate students. |
