DLR - To raise awareness and equip students with essential skills for safe laboratory practices, Quy Nhon University organized a Laboratory Safety Training session on July 6, 2025. This activity is part of Project 7 under Phase 1 of the Institutional University Cooperation Program (IUC–QNU), funded by VLIR-UOS (Kingdom of Belgium).
The training session welcomed the participation of 54 fourth-year students from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, majoring in Food Technology. It also received professional support from lecturers and Vietnamese members of Project 7.
The training program was divided into two sessions: a theoretical session in the morning and a practical session in the afternoon, ensuring that students gain both foundational knowledge and hands-on skills.

Lecturers from the Faculty of Natural Sciences, who are members of Project 7 (IUC-QNU), conducted the laboratory safety training for students
In the morning session, students were introduced to key theoretical topics such as: an overview of laboratory safety, essential regulations and safety rules, the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of classification and labeling of chemicals, identification of laboratory hazards, personal protective equipment and safety devices, safe laboratory practices, emergency response skills, and a Q&A segment.

The training program was attended by 54 students majoring in Food Technology at Quy Nhon University (QNU)
The afternoon session focused on practical activities, allowing students to reinforce and apply the knowledge gained. Hands-on exercises included: looking up chemical safety information, labeling chemicals, identifying hazards (chemical, physical, and biological), recognizing GHS symbols, classifying laboratory waste, and practicing emergency response procedures.
Through this program, Quy Nhon University not only equips students with essential knowledge and skills to ensure safety in academic and research settings, but also demonstrates its commitment to fostering a modern, safe, and sustainable learning environment.
