In the context of the Ministry of Finance approving the proposal for IFRS adoption in Vietnam under Decision No. 345/QĐ-BTC, with the aim of helping students confidently approach International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) as well as the CertIFR certification and prepare for the roadmap of IFRS adoption in Vietnam in the future, the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Vietnam Association of Certified Public Accountants (VACPA), in collaboration with partner universities, are organizing the "ACCA VACPA Newbie to IFRS 2024" competition. This promises to bring many interesting and beneficial content for university students nationwide, helping them access the international IFRS certification and expand career opportunities in the finance and accounting industry.
COMPETITION RULES:
• QUALIFYING ROUND: Registration officially opens (8:00 AM 21/06/2024 – 8:00 PM 10/07/2024)

• FINAL ROUND: Online competition on Zoom and Kahoot between contestants from universities nationwide who have passed the qualifying round & Awards ceremony

• TOP 10 FINAL PRIZES - 10 prizes: for the Top 10 contestants with the highest scores in the final round. Each prize includes:
(1) Physical gifts;
(2) TOP 10 FINAL CERTIFICATE;
(3) CERTIFR VIETNAMESE CERTIFICATE ACCOUNT SCHOLARSHIP (includes online study materials and 3 evaluation attempts for the Vietnamese CertIFR Certificate, valued at £285).
• 10 ADDITIONAL PRIZES: for the next 10 highest-scoring contestants. Each additional prize includes:
(1) Physical gifts;
(2) TOP 20 FINAL CERTIFICATE.
By participating in this event and competition, students will be introduced to IFRS:
- The roadmap for IFRS adoption in Vietnam
- Understanding IFRS and the fundamental differences with VAS
- Approaching IFRS basic concepts in an easy-to-understand way through the competition, with explanations from experienced ACCA members
- Understanding how to apply IFRS and exploring specific examples in the role of an accountant/auditor through the guidance of experienced ACCA members.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ACCA-VACPA JOINT CERTIFICATE IN INTERNATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING (CertIFR):
- The ACCA-VACPA Joint Certificate in International Financial Reporting (CertIFR) in English was introduced in Vietnam in 2018, with 83% of CertIFR learners highly valuing the certificate.
- In December 2022, ACCA and VACPA launched the Vietnamese version of the CertIFR certificate, aimed at eliminating common barriers students face related to language and costs.
- Through the Vietnamese version of the CertIFR certificate, ACCA and VACPA seek to enhance the skills of professionals in accounting, auditing, and finance, enabling them to grasp international financial reporting standards (IFRS). This is particularly important during this period of deep international integration and in preparation for the future adoption of IFRS in Vietnam.
- CertIFR holders will be equipped with knowledge of IFRS, practical application skills, and increased job opportunities with VACPA member companies.
