Quy Nhon University (QNU)’s Trade Union is a grassroots trade union organization under the leadership of the QNU Party Committee as well as the Vietnam National Education Trade Union. The academic year 2020 - 2021 is the first academic year QNU begins to implement the Resolution of the Party Committee of the University for the 15th term (2020 - 2025).
In general, the QNU Trade Union members are absolutely confident of the leadership of QNU’s Party Committee, the Board of Directors and the University's Trade Union, which is a favorable condition for the University's Trade Union to propagate and encourage it members to actively participate in patriotic emulation movements and successfully complete professional tasks. However, the complexity and unpredictability of the Covid-19 pandemic has greatly affected the organization of activities that gather a large number of members of the University.
In recent years, the Trade Union of the University has conducted many activities and recorded a lot of outstanding achievements.
Actively participating in charitable activities
The Trade Union of the University has actively participated in charitable activities launched by the Education Trade Union and the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Dinh province such as: donating nearly 25 million VND (US$1,000) to the Vietnam National Education Trade Union Social Fund 2020; more than 14 million VND (US$500) to the upgrading of 2 traditional works of the Education Sector in 2020, 10 million VND (US$400) to the program “Tet reunion 2021”, 45 million VND (US$ 1,800) to the building of public service houses for teachers in remote areas (2020 - 2021), 183 million VND (US$7,320) to the Fund for Vaccines against Covid-19 pandemic and 10 million VND (US$400) to the fund to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam National Education Trade Union.
In addition, the University’s Trade Union has made a donation to 2 trade union members with serious illnesses and actively offered hand sanitizers, and body thermometers for some local political events.
Effectively building and defending democracy at grass-roots level
The University’s Trade Union cooperated with the University to completely solve the backlog of personal income tax, conclude employment contracts based on Decree 68 and participate in the drafting and adjusting of regulations related to employees with 5 documents. In addition, it also participated in the adjusting of some new points in QNU’s Regulations on Internal Spending that are more beneficial to the QNU staff compared to those of the previous academic year: call for financial support and a reduction in the number of teaching hours for lecturers participating in the IUC project as well as a reduction in the number of teaching hours for its Trade Union officials at all levels as stipulated by Circular 20.
Offering training courses on the amended Law on Civil Servants and the revised Law on Higher Education
In order to perform the function of the trade union, the Executive Committee of the University’s Trade Union held the 2021 training conference on Law No.52/2019/QH14 dated November 25, 2019, the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Officials and the Law on Civil Servants, Decree No. 99/2019/ND-CP dated December 30, 2019 of the Government detailing and guiding the implementation of a number of articles of the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Law on Higher Education.
The University’s Trade Union sent 3 trade union members to a trade union training course offered by the Vietnam Trade Union and completed the review of the plan of trade union officials at all levels for the 2022 - 2027 term.

Participating in the activities of the Emulation Division
As the Head of Emulation Division 4, the University’s Trade Union canvassed the trade unions of the colleges and universities of the Block for contributing 450 million VND (US$18,000) to the fund to build public service houses for teachers in remote areas (2020 - 2021), one public service house for teachers in remote areas in Dak Lak province. Emulation Division 4 was considered by the Vietnam Education Trade Union to be among 3 out of 7 Emulation Divisions whose activities are highly efficient.
Responding to cultural and sports activities
Organizing walking activities on Vietnam Sports Day March 27, meeting the University’s sanitation workers on World Environment Day June 5 and holding the QNU Trade Union’s traditional men's football tournament to create a feeling of solidarity among the University’s units’ trade unions.

Other outstanding achievements
One Trade Union member was awarded the Certificate of Creative Labor 2020 by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the Certificate of Merit of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award by the President of the Vietnam Science and Technology Association. 2 members were praised as an outstanding example in emulation movements and campaigns for the period of 2015 - 2020 and awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam Education Trade Union.
One member won the first prize "Vietnam National Teacher Singing Contest"; was voted for the best photo "Traditional Ao Dai" organized by the Vietnam Education Trade Union.
The Trade Union members successfully completed the election of deputies to the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels and one member was honored to be elected to the People's Council of Binh Dinh province.
In the academic year 2020 - 2021, the University’s Trade Union’s 3 groups and 06 individuals were awarded the Certificate of Merit by the Vietnam Education Trade Union and the University’s Trade Union itself was recognized to be a grassroots trade union which completed its tasks “well”.

In the past time, QNU’s Trade Union has contributed significantly to the overall achievements of QNU. In the time to come, it will foster closer cooperation with the relevant agencies in implementing and promoting the role of the trade union as an organization in a spirit of fairness and solidarity.
