STICO - On the morning of December 6, the 5-day International Hackathon and Advanced Workshop on Information Technology and Leadership Skills within the framework of the UNESCO - UNITWIN 2021 program sponsored by UNESCO and the South Korean Ministry of Education officially came to an end.
This year's program had 37 excellent female students selected from 4 member universities in the network, including Gadjah Mada University (Indonesia); National University of Laos, Souphanouvong University (Lao PDR) and Sookmyung Women's University (South Korea). Continuing with the basic knowledge imparted in the previous training program, at this advanced workshop, the female students were equipped with knowledge of HTML and CSS programming languages to create websites, artificial intelligence as well as some other topics such as gender equality, entrepreneurship in the digital transformation era, application business trends and models and the success in Information technology (IT) achieved by some enterprises run by women. Throughout the program, the students participating in the program were divided into 6 groups (of 6 members from 3 countries each) to carry out 1 project in which they had to create a highly applicable product on the basis of the application of the knowledge they had gained of leadership and IT throughout the program.
At the end of the program, the groups presented their ideas at the Hackathon on how to solve the problem of gender inequality, how to create opportunities for women to start a business as well as finding solutions to helping women in urban, rural and mountainous areas. The final victory belonged to Group C - Vanila with the Blossom project "Finding solutions to boosting the number of women entrepreneurs for sustainable development". The only group, consisting of two Quy Nhon University students Le Hieu Thao and Nguyen Hien Thanh, together with representatives from Laos and Indonesia, was awarded the prize by the jury.

Overcoming all difficulties due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, this year's advanced training program and international Hackathon was a success and left many positive impressions on the students taking part. Through the program, in addition to learning a lot of interesting and useful professional knowledge, the students were also equipped with soft skills, teamwork skills, and especially they were given the opportunity to learn and exchange with international students in a friendly environment.
The Blossom project “Finding solutions to boosting the number of women entrepreneurs for sustainable development” created a website and an application that is operated as follows: farmers (especially female ones) whose farm produce cannot be sold will contact female drivers through an app. These drivers will use an app to scan what produce is still usable, sort out and forward it to housewives who need extra income. These housewives will cook the food requested from the produce received and then have it delivered to customers.
The main use of the website is to receive orders from customers and collect donations. In particular, all profits and donations will be given to a fund for poor women, especially those in remote areas. This project contributes to not only reducing malnutrition and food waste in Vietnam, Indonesia and Laos, but also creating jobs for poor women, helping them have more income as well as improving their qualifications. This will help achieve the sustainable development goals.
