On November 21, 2020, Quy Nhon University (QNU) in cooperation with the Center for Educational Quality Assurance – Da Nang University (CEQA-DNU) organized a preliminary survey for the independent appraisal of the training programs of Preschool Education, Primary Education, Finance - Banking, Information Technology.
The members of the Preliminary Survey Team (PST) consisted of Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam, Former Director of DNU, head of the Independent Appraisal team (IAT); Nguyen Thi Nga, MSc Deputy head of the Department of Testing and Quality Assurance of Pham Van Dong University, Secretary; Nguyen Thi Huong Tra MSc, head of the Administrative Affairs Department, Center for Educational Quality Assurance, DNU, Supervisor.
The people from QNU working with the PST included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My - Rector of QNU, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan, QNU’s University Council Chairman, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, Vice Rector of QNU, members of the Council of Self-Appraisal of Training Programs, secretariat and task forces and leaders of the units under QNU.
Overview of the opening session
At the opening session of the preliminary survey on the morning of November 21, 2020, Nguyen Thi Huong Tra MSc, head of the Administrative Affairs Department, the Education, Quality and Education Center, DNU announced the Decisions to set up the team of independent appraisal of the training programs of Preschool, Primary Education, Finance & Banking, Information Technology. Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam, IAT leader, talked about the study results of self-appraisal dossiers of 4 training programs of 4 QNU’s departments, affirming that the purpose of educational quality accreditation was to help educational institutions recognize their strengths and shortcomings so that they could improve the quality of training, meet the requirements of the society's human resources and ensure learners’ interests. He remarked that with the experience in quality accreditation of 3 training programs in 2019, this time QNU had prepared very clear and complete self-appraisal dossiers. He suggested that QNU continue to work closely with the PST during the preliminary survey and he pledged that the members of the independent appraisal team would make an objective and honest appraisal.

Speaking at the opening session, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My emphasized that quality accreditation was the policy, trend, and compulsory condition of QNU so that it could achieve the goal of becoming a multidisciplinary, application-oriented, prestigious university, meeting quality standards of Southeast Asia and gaining an important position in training cooperation, research, academic, cultural exchange by 2030. At the same time, he also suggested that all the lecturers and staff of QNU cooperate actively with the IAT.

During the 2 days of preliminary survey, the IAT studied the supporting documents, surveyed the facilities of QNU, talked to representatives of the task forces of the Council of Self-Appraisal of Training Programs to verify the information in the self-appraisal report and offered recommendations to QNU on the completion of its self-appraisal dossiers and the preparation for the independent appraisal.

At the end of the preliminary survey, Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My - Rector of QNU signed a Memorandum of Understanding after the preliminary survey and agreed on the time for the official survey of the IAT at QNU from December 1 to 4, 2020.
