On November 30, Quy Nhon University (QNU) cooperated with the Center for Education Accreditation, Danang University, in conducting a preliminary survey for independent appraisal of 5 programs: English Language, Physical Education, Social Work, Accounting and State Management.
General overview of the opening ceremony
The members of the preliminary survey team were Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam, former Director of Danang University, head of the independent appraisal team (IAT); Assoc.Prof.Dr. Le Van Anh, Secretary; Nguyen Thi Huong Tra MSc, head of Administrative Affairs Office of the Center for Education Accreditation, Danang University, supervisor.
Working with the preliminary survey team, on the side of QNU, were: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan - University Council Chairman, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien - Vice Rector, Program Self-appraisal Council members, task forces and leaders of the units under the university.

At the opening session of the preliminary survey, Nguyen Thi Huong Tra MSc, head of Administrative Affairs Office of the Education Accreditation Center, Danang University, announced the Decisions to establish the IAT of the programs of English Language, Physical Education, Social Work, Accounting and State Management. Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam, IAT leader gave a speech and discussed the results of the researching of QNU’s self-appraisal dossiers of QNU’s 5 related programs, affirming that the purpose of education accreditation was to help Educational institutions to recognize the strengths and shortcomings so that they could improve their quality of training, meeting the society’s requirements of human resources and protect learners’ interests. Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam believed that in a short time to come, QNU would have 9 more training programs accredited, showing its leadership’s close direction and the efforts and consensus of its departments and staff. With its experience in accreditation, QNU had made careful preparations of its self-appraisal dossiers. He also suggested that QNU continue to work closely with the IAT during the preliminary survey and pledged that the IAT members would make a full appraisal of QNU’s dossiers.

Speaking at the opening session, Assoc.Prof.Dr Nguyen Dinh Hien said that in the process of its development, QNU was fully aware that quality accreditation was a core factor. Therefore, over the past years, the University had always been active in quality accreditation. He also thanked the IAT for help QNU to complete its quality accreditation tasks. On behalf of QNU’s leaders, he expressed his thanks to all the lecturers and staff of QNU for closely cooperating with the IAT.
The IAT survey QNU’s facilities
During a day of the preliminary survey, the IAT studied the dossiers, surveyed the facilities of QNU, met with the representatives of the task forces of the Program Self-appraisal Council to verify the information given in the self-appraisal report and offered recommendations to QNU on its self-appraisal dossiers and the preparation for the official independent appraisal.
A Memorandum of Understanding signed after the preliminary survey
At the end of the preliminary survey, Prof.Dr. Tran Van Nam, head of the IAT and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, Vice Rector of QNU signed a post-preliminary survey Memorandum of Understanding and agreed that the time for the IAT’s official independent appraisal of QNU’s dossiers was from December 10 - 13, 2020.
