ICT - On the morning of March 21, 2002, at Hall B, Quy Nhon University held a ceremony to announce the Decision to establish the Pedagogical Department, raising the total number of the University’s Departments to 17.
Attending the announcement ceremony were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dr. Do Ngoc My, Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan, Chairman of the University Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Thanh Duc, Vice-Rector of the University; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, Vice-Rector of the Universityl and a lot of officials in the University’s Party Executive Committee, the University Council, the University’s Trade Union Executive Committee, the heads and deputy-heads of the units of the University, as well as the staff and students of the Pedagogical Department.

Under the Decision, 3 academic divisions under the Department of Pedagogy consists of Natural Science Education; Social Science Education; Mathematics - Computer Science Education. In addition, Dr. Tran Dinh Luong (senior lecturer of the Department of Mathematics) is transferred and appointed as Dean of the Pedagogical Department; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Viet Nga (Vice-Dean of the Department of Chemistry) and Dr. Vo Duy Duc (Deputy Head of the Department of Foreign Languages) as s Deputy Heads of the Pedagogical Department, term of 2019-2024.

Also under the Decision, 20 lecturers from 10 departments consisting of Mathematics, Information Technology, Physics, Chemistry, Biology - Agricultural Engineering, Philology, History, Geography - Land Management, Foreign Languages, and Political Education and State Administration are transferred to the Department of Pedagogy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Ngoc My, Rector of the University emphasized that the Department should quickly stabilize the organization, structure and development towards modernity, flexibility and high autonomy; review the planning of training lecturers, with a view to achieving the proportion of lecturers with a doctorate degree up each year as required by the Ministry of Education and Training’s regulations, (under which, by 2020, at least 45% of lecrurers of pedagogy must have doctoral degrees). Great emphasis must be placed on training quality students, meeting the exit requirements, meeting the professional standards of teachers as prescribed. At the same time, the Department needs to update its training programs, closely following the new general education program; promote pedagogical and educational science research; continue to connect with localities, provincial Departments of Education and Training, schools at all levels to collect labor market feedback on employment status and the levels of meeting job requirements of university graduates. Particularly, the Department needs to actively offer regular training courses for teachers and education managers in the South Central Region and Central Highlands, meeting the renewal requirements of the new general education program.

In his new task acceptance speech, Dr. Tran Dinh Luong, the newly-appointed Dean of the Department of Pedagogy, thanked the departmental staff, the University and the Rector for trusting him with this important position of responsibility. The new Dean is well aware that this is both an honor and a difficult task, so in addition to individual efforts, there is also the need for guidance of the University leaders and the collaboration of the units in the University to successfully fulfil this great task. Dr. Tran Dinh Luong emphasized: “Holding the position of the Dean, I thinh that I need to be dedicated, fair, and do the best for my students. At the same time, I will attempt to bring internal stability to the Department and gradually foster it in the coming time”.
