Accommodation
For newly enrolled students, accommodation is essential, especially out-of-town students. Many students often choose to live in the University’s dormitory. The dormitory of Quy Nhon University has 6 buildings with a total of 350 rooms equivalent to 2,500 beds (an average of 8 students/ room). The rooms are self-contained with their own WCs and bathrooms. Each dormitory building has a “cultural activity” room with adequate tables and chairs for studying and watching television. In addition, the buildings are equipped with wireless Internet services and tap water is provided for all the rooms. Dormitory fee ranges from 150,000 - 240,000 VND/ student/ month. The specific price depends on each room in each dormitory. At the time of enrolment, new students will be instructed to register in boarding houses. And living in the dormitory is still very convenient for students because the dormitory is located on the campus. On the other hand, students only take more than 5 minutes to walk to the sea if they choose to live in the dormitory.
As for students who want to live in boarding houses, they can choose the boarding houses near the University such as those in streets of Ngo May, Dien Hong, Nguyen Thi Dinh, Ham. Nghi, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. The rent of the boarding room will range from 600,000 VND to 2,500,000 VND (US$26 - 108) / room/month. When renting accommodation, students need to pay close attention to issues such as security, deposit, electricity, water, wifi, gate lock hours, tools available before entering, etc., to avoid troubles in the future.
However, in the early years of university, priority should be given to the dormitory because it is a safe place with many other convenient services.
Essential items
Students do not need too sophisticated furniture, but they still need to have all the necessary furniture and supplies to start a university life, their first independent lives. Immediately after finding a suitable place to live, the next thing new students need to do is buying some basic furniture to start their independent life such as: mats, mattresses and blankets; desks, bookshelves and study lamps; wardrobe or hangers, kitchen and cooking utensils (if living in boarding houses); fans, pots and towels. In addition to the above items, students also need to get ready a full range of clothes, shoes, toothbrushes, and other personal items for personal use. In addition, if you have enough money, you can buy a refrigerator to better serve your daily life.
Students can find essential items at reasonable prices at the grocery store in the University, Khu Sau Market, Student Night Market, etc.
Eating
Quy Nhon is a tourist city, but the prices of food and drinks here seem to be “softer” than those in other tourist cities. On the streets with many student boarding houses, most of them have many restaurants and bars to serve the needs of students. Currently, the price of a serving in Quy Nhon city ranges from 15,000 VND to 20,000 VND (US$0.65 - 0.86). Therefore, students often choose to eat at food stalls for the sake of convenience. On the other hand, some off-campus students often choose to cook their own meals to suit their taste and save money.
For on-campus students, the on-campus cafeteria always ensures a full range of food and drinks at affordable prices. Therefore, it is very canvenient for students to have meals and save time. In addition, the stores in the dormitory are regularly checked for food quality, safety and hygiene, so students can safely eat and drink with their mind at ease.
Travelling
Like other provinces, travelling to Quy Nhon is very convenient. Students can choose to travel by plane, train, passenger car, and even by motorbike. As for new students, if they choose to live in the dormitory, they can walk to the lecture halls. If they live in boarding houses the University, they can travel by bike, by motorbike. If they live far away, they can travel to the University by bus.
Those are some suggestions for the essential needs of Course 43 new students of QNU when they are still confused on the first day of enrollment. However, please feel secure and confident on the first steps in the lecture hall, because there will always be lecturers, seniors and clubs, youth union, and student union that always care for them.
