On November 23, 2020 in Hanoi, the Vingroup Innovation Fund (VinIF) held a ceremony to announce the National Master’s and Doctoral Scholarship 2020. In this scholarship award event, 14 QNU’s postgraduate students were awarded the VinIF scholarships.
In 2020, VinIF awarded 293 scholarships worth nearly 40 billion VND ($US 1,7 million) to postgraduate students in the fields of science and technology. VinIF awarded 127 Master’s scholarships worth 120 million VND / year ($US 5,000) each and 95 doctoral scholarships worth 150 million VND / year ($US 6,250) each to excellent candidates. At the same time, VinIF continues to provide scholarships 2020 to 71 postgraduate students who received scholarships in 2019. This is the second consecutive year, VinIF awarded master's and doctoral scholarships to contribute to the development of high-quality scientific human resources for the country.

QNU is honored to have 14 postgraduate students awarded VinIF scholarships. The students are Vo Hoang Vi, Tran My Linh, Tran Quoc Dung, Nguyen An Thu Uyen (majoring in Applied Data Science), Le Quoc Dat, Nguyen Thi My Duyen, Pham Thi Le Tram, Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung (majoring in Theoretical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry), Ngo Van Tam (Department of Science and Technology); Nguyen Thi Ngan, PhD students of Algebra and Number Theory; Phan Dang Cam Tu, Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, PhD students of Theoretical Chemistry and Physical Chemistry; Tran Thi Thu Hien (lecturer of Natural Sciences, PhD student at Hanoi University of Technology) and Nguyen Vu Hoa (majoring in Experimental Biology).
As for the Master of Applied Data Science program sponsored by VinIF run at QNU since 2020, VinIF offers a maximum of 10 scholarships worth 120 million VND / year ($US 5,000) to excellent master’s students. In 2020, QNU has considered and proposed that 4 qualified master’s students be granted VinIF scholarships.

The VinIF scholarship is one of the important articles in the Cooperation Agreement between QNU and Technology Development Joint-Stock Company (VinTech) dated August 21, 2018 to give financial support to excellent postgraduate students of science, technology, engineering or medicine. The criteria for winning VinIF scholarships are that postgraduate students must have specific and meaningful study plans and research directions, with priority given to candidates who have obtained awards and achievements in scientific and technological research within 2 years prior to applying.

Speaking at the Scholarship Award Ceremony, Prof. Vu Ha Van - Science Director of VinIF said: “Instead of spending large sums of money buying foreign products, Vietnam needs high-quality human resources to bring Vietnam’s science and technology forward and more sustainably. Therefore, VinIF always does its best to accompany a contingent of scientific researchers, both young and experienced. Today’s 293 scholarships are awarded with a view to attaining part of this goal”.
The valuable and meaningful VinIF scholarships are a great source of spiritual and material encouragement to help postgraduate students strive for the highest results in their studies and research.
