In order to publish and analyze Quy Nhon University (QNU)’s university performance metrics by UPM standards, on November 28, 2020, QNU organized a conference on UPM. Accordingly, QNU achieved a 4-star rating by application-oriented university standards.
In attendance at the conference, on the side of the UPM research team, were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, former Deputy Director of Hanoi National University, head of Advisory Group of the National Committee on educational innovation, UPM research team leader; Dr. Ta Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director in charge of the Center for Education Quality Accreditation, National University of Hanoi, member of the UPM research group; Dr. Hoang Thi Xuan Hoa, member of the UPM Advisory Council and on the side of QNU were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My, Rector; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoan, Chairman of University Council; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, Vice Rector; Dr. Hoang Quy Chau, Chairwoman of QNU’s Trade Union; Secretary of QNU’s Youth Union; President of QNU’s Student Association; leaders of the units, department and students.

At the conferenc, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Ngoc My received the Star Award Certificate by UPM standards. At the same time, he said that QNU was fully aware of quality accreditation as a prerequisite for QNU's development and the obtaining of the 4-star rating by UPM standards was a reliable basis for professionals and society to evaluate QNU's capacity for training, research and innovation.
General overview of the conference
Speaking at the conference, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc, head of the UPM research team congratulated QNU on its achievements recognized and rated 4 stars by UPM. At the same time, he also analyzed and offered advice on the comparison results of QNU by UPM standards in order to help the University realize its strengths and weaknesses to continue reviewing and planning its development strategies to achieve higher rankings.
QNU is awarded 4 Stars on the basis of the comparison results of the quality and star award of higher education institutions in the ASEAN region in 2020 by UPM. According to UPM, 4-star universities are prestigious and influential institutions in the country and the region.
UPM is a suitable rating tool. It evaluates university performance through 54 indicators across 8 categories, following two distinctive orientations: research and application. Evaluation results will be presented in the form of an overall score for the whole institution, and a score for each category, corresponding to a number of Stars ranging from 1 - 5.
