Scientific Research & International Cooperation - Quy Nhon University (QNU) has the mission of training and developing high-quality human resources; fostering talents; scientific research, knowledge dissemination and technology transfer, which effectively serves the country's sustainable development, especially for the South Central Coast - Central Highlands, making a very positive contribution to promoting social progress.
Scientific research work at QNU has served the need to improve the quality of comprehensive training, meeting social requirements, in the direction of combining teaching, learning with the application of scientific knowledge into practice. In recent years, QNU has made great strides in both quantity and quality of domestic and international research and publication.
QNU is carrying out a lot of research projects at national, ministerial and provincial levels. Basic scientific research is a strong area of QNU, and the number of topics in this field is increasing rapidly. Many of QNU’s lecturers in the field of natural sciences have led projects at the State and national level under the National Fund for Science and Technology Development (Nafosted). Notably, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Sum who works at the Department of Mathematics - Statistics was awarded the Ta Quang Buu Prize and is one of the 2 PhD holders in Vietnam who has his name included in the list of the top 100 Asian scientists in 2018 announced by Asian Scientist Magazine. In addition, QNU focuses on cooperating with higher-education institutions, research institutes and localities in the solving of arising practical problems. In addition, in the past 5 years, QNU has signed a cooperation agreement with KU Leuven University to lead 04 projects funded by the Kingdom of Belgium.
Along with the strong development of scientific research of lecturers, scientific research activities implemented by QNU students are rapidly increasing in quantity and quality. The students' scientific research projects have been accepted with good results and many scientific articles written by QNU students have been published in many prestigious scientific journals. With such outstanding project products, every year, QNU students win many ministerial scientific research awards and scholarships from organizations, companies and enterprises.
The school also organizes many domestic and international seminars and conferences, attracting the attention of many scientists, researchers from universities, prestigious research institutes, agencies, national and international ministries and agencies. With a contingent of well-trained lecturers in many countries with developed science and education, along with existing research facilities, QNU has hundreds of works published in the prestigious international journal under the system of ISI, Scopus every year and a lot of textbooks, monographs and reference books written by QNU lecturers have been published in both English and Vietnamese.
As a prestigious, application-oriented and multidisciplinary university, QNU identifies research development as one of its main tasks. Therefore, in the period 2016 - 2020, with a vision to 2030, QNU has proposed the following research policy:
- Prioritizing the development of basic research fields including Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Under this policy, QNU has made plans to build institutions and centers for research and application within the University;
- Implementing national, ministerial and provincial interdisciplinary research projects, promoting the role of research and technology centers as well as focusing on emerging areas of variable adaptation to climate change, renewable energy and environmental protection, sustainable development of marine economy, technology, technology, information and communication technology, education science, society and humanities;
- Encouraging research collaboration with other universities in Vietnam and developed countries through a network of alumni from different regions, including the Commission for Europe, Australia, the US and Asia Pacific. Attracting Vietnamese and inter-national scientists, researchers and experts from all over the world to visit and work at the University.
- Building and strengthening bilateral and multilateral relationships between the University and businesses in research, development and technology transfer with the
aim of attracting research grants and investment grants from industry to improve the quality of education and training, meeting the actual needs of businesses.
