Quy Nhon University started training Laotian students (LHS) in 2002. So far, the University has trained and awarded Vietnamese diplomas to nearly 1000 Laotian students, granted BA and MA degrees to 451 and 19 Laotian students and graduate students respectively. The University currently has more than 100 Laotian students graduate students with many different fields of study from 4 provinces in the South of Laos including Champasack, Attapu, Sekong and Salavan. In recent times, with a good reputation for quality of training together with a good and standard Vietnamese training program, many of Laotian schools send their students to the University to study Vietnamese. At the same time, the number of fee-paying students has increased rapidly. Along with the receipt of Laotian students according to the Annual Agreement, the University admits Laotian students outside the Agreement for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programs.
In general, the University's training of Laotian students has been highly appreciated by your country. After graduating from Quy Nhon University, Laotian students return to Laos and many are appointed to posts of responsibility in the Southern provinces of Laos, contributing to the economic, cultural and social development of southern Laotian provinces in particular and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic in general, and at the same time further tightening the special friendship and solidarity relations, the ties of brotherhood between Vietnam and Laos. With such contributions, in March 2018, the University was very honored to be awarded the Friendship Medal by the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. This is a great encouragement and a great source of motivation for the University to continue striving to implement more extensive cooperation for the sake of a good relationship of the two countries.
In addition to the improvement of the quality of high-quality human resources for Laos in socio-economic development, the training of Laotian students also strengthens the relationship and cultural exchange, contributing to promoting the special solidarity between Vietnam - Laos, and shows the international training trend of Quy Nhon University in the trend of internationalization and university autonomy.
