The final of the "Student Scientific Research" competition was held at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Education for 3 days (from 25 to 27 November, 2020). A research project conducted by a group of Quy Nhon University students was honored to win second prize with the topic "Factors affecting the quality of Binh Dinh-based small- and medium-sized enterprises’ financial reports" by 4 students from the Faculty of Economics & Accounting, including Vo Thi Cam Tien, Trinh Thi Hong Huong, Nguyen Thi Thanh Dieu and Pham Thi Kim Chi under the supervision of Tran Thi Quanh MSc.

In addition, Quy Nhon University students’ 2 other research projects won third prizes, one with the topic "Researching and applying LoRa technology in the flood warning system in the downstream area of the Kon - Ha Thanh rivers, Phuoc Thang commune, Tuy Phuoc district, Binh Dinh province" by student Tran Van Trung under the supervision of Dr. Nguyen Duc Thien (from the Faculty of Engineering & Technology) and the other with the topic "Approaching literary works in high school from the perspective of semiotics" by student Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang under the supervision of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Van Anh (from the Faculty of Education).
The "Student Scientific Research" Award is presented annually by the Ministry of Education and Training in coordination with the Ministry of Science & Technology, the Central Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations with a view to encouraging students to conduct scientific research, which helps them to develop their creative thinking, self-study and apply the knowledge gained to solve their practical problems in life.
Overview of the awards ceremony
In 2020, the country has a total of 461 research topics of 6 fields of study entered for the "Student Scientific Research” Award by 103 institutions. Through the assessment made by 93 scholars from 13 examining committees in the Preliminary Round, 309 topics were selected to award prizes, of which 75 subjects went through to the final, 95 topics were awarded third prize and 139 consolation prize.
