ICT- On November 28, 2018, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien, Vice-Rector of Quy Nhon University had a meeting with Ms. Chuman Ai, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, Ms. Okada Yoshiko, Chief Representative of Japan Student Support Organization Office (JASSO) in Hanoi.
Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Chuman Ai expressed her joy when the Japan Center of Quy Nhon University was established and put into operation.
“In the coming time, the Office of the Japanese Embassy in Vietnam will provide support for the Japan Center on human resources for teaching, and we will promote the images of Quy Nhon University and the Center to Japanese enterprises, both at home and abroad,” Ms. Chuman Ai said.

Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Hien highly appreciated the support of the Japanese Embassy Office in Vietnam for the University’s Japan Center in the past time. The Center set up not only helps students understand Japanese language but also promote Japan’s culture in Binh Dinh. The University will always create the best conditions for Quy Nhon University students to have access to Japanese language, culture, opportunities to study and work in Japanese enterprises, both at home and abroad.
On this occasion, Ms. Chuman Ai did an exchange and introduced the Japanese Government Scholarship Program (MEXT) to Quy Nhon University students.

“Many young people in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have approached and received this scholarship. However, the number of applications for this scholarship of students in the Central South Coastal and Central Highlands provinces I have received is very modest. Through today's exchange, I hope you will be more interested in this scholarship because it is a very good opportunity for you to improve yourself and develop your career later, ”said Ms. Chuman Ai.

Currently, JASSO is an agency under the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan and is the leading organization in supporting students, lending and awarding scholarship, giving social assistance to international students in Japan. For further up-to-date, accurate and useful information about scholarship opportunities in Japan, students can access http://www.jasso.org.vn.
The Japanese Government Scholarship Program (MEXT) started in 1954. Over the past 60 years, MEXT scholarships have been 3/4/2019 granted to more than 100 thousand people from 160 countries and territories worldwide. Students can study at universities in Japan and get a degree after graduation or can study at universities in Vietnam then go to Japan under a student exchange program. For MEXT scholarships, students are exempted from admission fees, tuition fees and air tickets between Japan and Vietnam, and each student is given a scholarship of about VND 25 million (about US$1,080). MEXT Scholarship is given to international undergraduate and graduate students. This scholarship is awarded in two forms: One administered by the Japanese Embassy is announced in mid-April, or recommended by Japanese universities. To obtain MEXT scholarships from Japanese Embassies, for university system, a candidate must be a Vietnamese high school graduate, under 25 years old, with a grade point average of above 7.5. If a program is conducted in Japanese, the candidate must have N3 or higher and get a score of IELTS 5.5 or higher, and with a program conducted in English, this candidate must get a score of IELTS 6.0 or higher. For an international PhD student, he or she must be an under 35 Vietnamese college graduate and have a specific study plan and achieve a grade point average of above 7.5 for all years at undergraduate or postgraduate level, and the candidate’s Japanese score must be N2 or higher. If this candidate’s program is conducted in English, he or she must achieve a score of IELTS 6.5 or higher. |
